Meet the legend : Harry Lemon aka Lemon8
For those already in the know, Harry Lemon needs absolutely no introduction. But for those discovering him for the first time, welcome. Are you in for a treat…
Harry’s story is one of passion, dedication, and an unwavering love for music. He began his journey in the 1980s, spinning hip-hop and funk, under his DJ Funkateer moniker, at clubs in and around his native Rotterdam. As the house music wave swept the world, Harry caught it early and made it his own. He began organising his own parties, building connections and earning his place through sheer talent and drive. The breakthrough came when he was invited to become resident DJ at Nighttown, at the time Holland’s biggest and most influential club, where he held court for over four remarkable years.
It was during this golden era that Harry created Model8 in 1993, an anthem forged for his crowd that has since become a recognised classic and landmark in both techno and dance music. Two years later came The Bells Of Revolution, a track so enduring it nearly charted in the UK Top 40 in recent years, proving its timeless power.
His double album The Inner Sanctuary Sessions, consisting entirely of his own original music and remixes, stands as a crowning achievement and a cornerstone of progressive house. Tracks like New York, New York and Lose Control became anthems of a generation. Remarkably, Lose Control was voted the all-time best record on the iconic Bedrock label in 2020, by fans, as well as by a landslide.
Throughout his distinguished career, Harry has performed at virtually every major club across Holland and at the world’s most prestigious venues and festivals. His music has crossed and bridged genres in ways few artists can claim, earning plays from legends such as Danny Tenaglia, Tiësto, Danny Howells, Armin van Buuren, Richie Hawtin and Sasha, to name but a few. His monthly 8TM radio show at Frisky has now been running for an incredible 14 years, gathering a loyal and devoted worldwide fanbase along the way.
Lemon8’s music has always remained beautifully, defiantly relevant, earning rave reviews with every release and cementing a legendary status that only a handful of artists ever achieve. After taking some well-deserved time to recharge, Harry returns fully energised and totally dedicated to presenting his finest productions, once again proving that progressive house is not just a genre, it’s an attitude.
